Drypoint Etchings

My etching press (from Finland!) in my studio - purchased July 2007.

Please contact me at kaysollyart@gmail.com to purchase original drypoints and I will check stock and/ or print to order. Scroll down for the gallery!

My drypoint etching editions usually consist of 10 original prints (plus the ‘Artist’s Proof ‘(A/P)), but maybe even less (see each images details).

Each of my original prints are entirely new artworks, however, as each separate ‘edition’ uses the same plate, the images produced do vary, so they are ‘Varied Editions’. Some vary more than others because I really enjoy applying my monoprinting techniques to the drypoints and using different etching ink colours and effects. Some of them also have a little acrylic, fine glitter, or gold etching ink applied on top.

All are printed on very high quality archival watercolour paper and only the best oil based etching ink(s) are used.

This is where the etching ink ‘magic’ begins (I’m very messy - which is half the fun of it.)

Hot off the Press…

Latest drypoint print: ‘Loaghtan Ram’ (2023)

Drypoint editions:

The images in the gallery above, are only a small selection of the drypoints I have created over the years. Please contact me (kaysollyart@gmail.com) if you would like to check availability (to purchase prints) in any of those editions or others you have seen in local shops.

I may have etched the plates and commenced early prints in the editions in one year, then not completed printing the full edition or the last few prints until this year, for example. (I am aiming to complete editions the same year as etched, going forward.)

Limited resources, time and materials, can get in the way! Also, I admit, I s

ometimes get distracted by some other new shiny subject that takes my eye and the editions are interrupted by other projects!

As I produce varied editions, sometimes over a long period of time, I think it probably keeps a freshness to the later, more recently printed works. (At least that’s how it feels to me!)

I enjoy creating a new ‘take’ on the same theme during the process and exploring possibilities. Therefore each drypoint has its own special feel and is unique. Each one is an original creation in its own right. Really hope you enjoy them.
